It was an absolute feast to stay at De Kleine Serengeti! The long weekend was just too short and we wish we could have stayed longer. The unit was nice and clean with everything you could need, and the daily cleaning service was a bonus! It is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The restaurant on site is fantastic and makes the most delicious milkshakes! I also highly recommend doing one of their game drives. We will see you again in the future for sure.

We had a very nice stay. Everything was very clean and the unit was cleaned every day. The braai and especially the braai grill have been cleaned very well. Will only bring mosquito nets next time, because there are a lot of biting bugs.

We were kindly welcomed by the staff and owner. The place has a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. The service is good and the staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant with its outdoor seating under the trees is a plus. The small pond just outside the fence is nice for bird watching and you can hear the frogs in the evening. There are many animals to be seen around the fence early in the morning and at dusk.

We had a great time at De Kleine Serengeti. On arrival there was no one to receive us. We didn't meet the owners until later in the day. The staff is also not one of the friendliest and doesn't really make you feel welcome. There is also no soap provided in the bathroom. The rooms inside are beautiful, but the layout is not great. The WiFi was also only available on the veranda, with no reception inside the rooms. The pool was not the cleanest either. The restaurant did have a delicious breakfast.

The housing is comfortable with all the necessary necessities to make your stay comfortable. We had a view of the pond where we could hear the frogs croaking through the night. There is a great variety of birds to see and you can hear them throughout the day. We could see wildlife around the boundaries of the property. The braai is conveniently located on the stoep area.

The Chalet has a queen size bed with a single bed and sofa bed and is fully equipped with DSTV. Braai facilities on the private stoep are very neat and are cleaned daily. The location is great, many animals visit the area. Katryn and Piet are an outstanding hostess and host. Rudie's field knowledge is very good.

My husband and I had a great stay. The units are neat and fully equipped. All that bothered me a little was the boiler that was started, full of lime. We expected a bit more privacy, the restaurant is right in front of our unit and the vehicles were passing by. Not the best place to go if you're looking for that quiet bush experience. The people are very hospitable, silence is a wonderful prospect, with only the sounds of the animals. The view is breathtaking. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay.
The unit is tidy and the rates fair. We were there during bad rainy weather and the only small thing was that the roof leaked, it didn't bother us much, we just moved our things away, but it later became a nagging problem when you wanted to use the bathroom. The co-owner apologized and informed us that the problem had been fixed before. It's very quiet, no loud music, excessive drinking is not allowed. It was particularly nice to be able to relax by the pool and see a lot of wildlife pass by every day in the late afternoon. The location is perfect, it's not too far from the Safari Mall or the main entrance and it's very safe. I recommend the place to anyone who might want to experience something different and just need a nice rest.

The reception by Uncle Piet, the atmosphere at the restaurant and the place as a whole are all top notch. We really enjoyed our time there. We were also pleased with the progress taking place at Dinokeng Game Reserve as a whole compared to 6 years ago when we were there for a one day "self drive" excursion. Well done to the management of Dinokeng. For such a young park, everything looks and functions quite well. We will use De Kleine Serengeti again for a quick getaway. He is close and convenient.
The rooms may be a little close to each other for that quiet getaway in the woods. Our neighbors had been noisy and the room was full of ants in the kitchen. But the unit itself is very neat and has all the necessities. It is a terribly beautiful setting and the game drive was very interesting. The garden restaurant is also well priced with delicious food and the staff are very friendly.
Quiet place worth developing further.
We went to De Kleine Serengeti with our son who is 2. He had the best time. There was plenty of space for him to run around and roam free without us feeling any anxiety for his safety at all. The location is right in the bush, where giraffe visited multiple times, and a truly inviting pool that should definitely be enjoyed in warmer months. Eric - our guide - was an absolute pleasure to deal with - he also helped us in and around the lodge on a few occasions. All-in-all it was a nice, quiet family holiday at a relaxed venue.
De Kleine Serengeti was lovely for a short break from the busy city. The unfortunate reality is that one has to incur additional costs in Dinokeng, which we considered part of the accommodation. The owners and workers were all friendly and helpful.

We had the most amazing stay, the staff, especially the owner Tannie Katryn were fantastic. The room was spotless and clean and we had no need of anything. The Dinokeng reserve is absolutely lovely and it is so great to have a big Five reserve in Gauteng. The game drive with Erik was fabulous with sightings of cheetah, giraffe, jakkal, zebra, impala and more. Erik made it so special with his insight and friendliness. We will return soon for certain.

We stayed here for one night as a mid-week break. We really enjoyed it and the owners were incredibly hospitable and helpful. My only criticism was that we stayed right next to reception. In the sequel, we will instead request a unit that is away from the receiving unit. The unit was otherwise clean and tidy and very well equipped.
The photos are not clear. The residential units are a few meters from the restaurant garden where guests can look directly into your residential unit. Not what we expected.

But to sum it all up, I definitely recommend De Kleine Serengeti. Had a delicious breakfast the Sunday morning before we left.
It is a very nice and comfortable place to stay. Hammanskraal's music could be heard on Saturday afternoon and evening, but I believe if trees were planted around the site to break the sound it would be even better. We really enjoyed it and will definitely go back again.

It's a plot with a few rooms, it's not a lodge. Very uncomfortable, hard bed and pillows. The pictures are very misleading. No privacy from neighbors or workers walking by all the time. Shower head is broken. Very flimsy patio table and chairs.

I would suggest that it should be mentioned that guests must be out of the reserve's gates before 10:00, otherwise one pays a day visitor fee again.

De Kleine Serengeti was booked as a nice weekend getaway, and the representation on the website that detached units are available confirmed our choice. Unfortunately, this is a misrepresentation. Units 5 and 6 are one building, so one could hear the neighbors in unit 5. On the contrary, there are no detached units available. There was also no Covid-19 protocol followed upon our arrival. The employee who was working with the angle grinder in front of our room on Friday afternoon was very disturbing. Accommodation is clean, but maybe the management could consider turning on the fridge before guests arrive. It took hours for the fridge to get cold, and on top of that it made so much noise that you couldn't sleep well. The lodge looks a bit like a construction site at the moment, and a lot of attention can be paid to the first impression guests get. Perhaps building materials can be stored in one place out of sight and areas under construction screened off. To sum up our experience in one word it would be nothing but disappointed.

We spent the September 2020 long weekend there. Our hosts were amazing and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Our chalet was clean and well equipped and the location absolutely wonderful. Every day we could sit quietly and watch the wildlife graze there. We were very impressed and will definitely go there again.

It's very easy to drive through the reserve yourself or you can do a game drive with the lodge. The people are very nice. There is a braai and fridge and stove, just not an oven. You can hear the foxes and other animals in the evening which gives a nice woodland feeling.

De Kleine Serengeti is perfect for those who want a break within the Gauteng province - probably about 45 minutes' drive from Pretoria. The management is very helpful and friendly and has many big plans for the Lodge. I look forward to visiting De Kleine Serengeti again!

Perfectly located to either do the self drive, but I recommend the game drive with Eric. Definitely worth the money and your best chance to see some of the Big 5.
Maybe something for the future: Inform visitors in advance that you cannot leave the camp on foot. The kettle was out of order, but we were able to cope with a pot on the stove. It would be nice if this lodge can pay visitor's reserve fare (stamp on ticket) as with many other lodges.

De Kleine Serengeti conditionally offers value for money. We were surprised to find out the self-catering chalet had an aircon in it, it's the best thing they could have put in there. But we were more surprised that there was cleaning service every morning. We could really just rest and be lazy. Neat clean linen was available. Thanks to the owners for the hospitality.

Little Serengeti is what the advertisement indicated. Ideally central location in Dinokeng. Views from the accommodation excellent. Highly recommended. Everything was clean and in order.

We decided at the last minute to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary somewhere quietly. Piet and Erik were the perfect hosts and we were not disappointed. The additions will ensure that this will become a top destination in Dinokeng. We were privileged to see so much wildlife at the dam. In the early evening the foxes announced the evening and just before we went to crawl in, a lion wished us good night with about three oomph noises. They will definitely see us again.

Uncle Piet and Aunt Katryn. What an experience to be able to stretch out at De Kleine Serengeti. We and our little one were welcomed with open arms and what a surprise to see how luxurious and tidy our unit was. The kitchen was fully equipped (at no time did we need anything that wasn't there). The unit is nicely finished and the location of the lodge is perfect. We will visit your place again and again. Even when we locked ourselves out of the unit, these 2 people helped us right away! No noise, although the lodge was fully booked. Thank you very much for a wonderful time.

Very friendly welcome by owner, incredible view over the field, especially with the animals wandering around you drinking water. Saw the Sunday lions right in front of us on the plain and the tour guide, Eric went out of his way to take us to them! The chalet has everything needed for comfort. Would definitely recommend for a peaceful getaway!

The owners are incredibly friendly and hospitable and informed us of where we could go to see the lions. The accommodation was very neat and has everything you need and it is incredibly peaceful and you can see many animals from the veranda. Will definitely stay here again. Accommodation modern, comfortable. Saw a lot of animals. Large, open plain right in front of units. Game drive was excellent, guide went out of his way to show us rhinos.
The accommodation was very neat and clean. Everything and more that one needs was in the unit and outside. Wildlife walks in front of the units and you can listen to sounds at night while you sit on the porch and have a barbecue. The hospitality was also very good.

The units are very well equipped, very clean and is serviced daily. I will definitely stay there again next year and recommend it to parents who has to stay close to Camp Discovery for their children's' sport.
Place is beautiful, not far from the main road, however the cleaning service can still be improved. The table outside was full of dust, there are cob webs on the veranda roof. The game viewing service can be better coordinated, we missed out on it, no effort was made to inform us of time or ranger contact so we could arrange directly with him. Overall its a beautiful place and the owner is super friendly.

Uncle Piet and Eric made our visit worthwhile. Eric, who observes the game drives, has a special love for and knowledge of the animals, plants and birds. The amount of wildlife that can be observed from the porch is exceptional.
Value for money. We arrived after hours. The bedroom and bathroom are spacious and neat and clean. The location was ideal for our itinerary. We felt safe.

Overnight facilities very neat and clean. For the amount of R450 per person sharing (R900) just for sleeping is quite high. For foreign visitors it might be cheap, but for South Africans with full ID it might be made available at a cheaper rate.
We only stayed 1 night after a wedding. Place was very neat and clean. Close to town ideal for a peaceful getaway.
The chalets are really very beautifully and convenient. Perfect layout, spacious and very classy and fully equipped kitchen. The braai area with the porch is lovely. They are neat, and has a very nice view of the open bush with zebra, blue wildebeest and springbok's gracing throughout the day. However, we weren't greeted on arrival or departure, and the owner isn't exactly very forthcoming and friendly, their house is also very close the chalets and you almost feel like you are a bit too close to the main homestead. The pool is quite nice, just a pity about the concrete wall blocking the beautiful wall. The place is quite new and obviously still being renovated, looking forward to see what they will do with the rest of the property.
The lodge is bordered by bush veld, and faces open Plains that always had wildebeest and zebra. We also watched ostriches, eland and blesbok grazing the area, and two really great jackal sightings on an early morning drive. The area is also great for birders, particularly beyond the little dam. The lodge is quite new and some surroundings aren't getting tended to, however our room was beautifully decorated and very spacious. The game drive offered by Piet is maybe amateur, but is still lovely especially if you did not arrive in a big vehicle. Really pleasant overall and what an absolutely lovely setting! Need to pay conservation fee at your own cost.
This resort can be highly recommended! Tips: With the temporary fly plague, they might consider supplying Doom in the units. Shade netting for the motor vehicles will be appreciated.
Ideal place to break away for a few days if you don't want to travel too far from the city. Rooms are neat and well equipped with everything you need. Looking forward to the pool they are building.

The lodge offers 10 luxury, self-catering 1-bedroom chalets, that are fully furnished and equipped with braai facilities, a fully equipped kitchenette, bathroom, TV with selected DStv channels for your enjoyment.
The Kleine Serengeti also has a family house with 5 comfortable air-conditioned rooms that accommodate a maximum of 2 people per room. Each room has an en-suite bathroom, queen bed and walk in shower with the finest amenities.
De Kleine Serengeti has a dam with ducks and beyond that a grass plain where the game viewing can be enjoyed for most of the day without leaving the comfort of the lodge. The game includes eland, buffalo, kudu, ostrich, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and a variety of birds species.
Game drives are available for those in search of the more elusive animals such as leopard, lion and cheetah and self-drive is also available. It is essential to book in advance. The drives takes about 2 hours with snacks and beverages supplied.
De Kleine Serengeti Game Lodge together with other game farms are part of the larger Dinokeng Game Reserve situated only 45 km north of Pretoria, bordering the N1. This is a malaria-free region.
